So...every now and then, an opportunity arises to do something really cool in the radio business.
Such an opportunity presented itself this weekend and today it came full circle.
The brother of a music producer I know gave my name to a couple of country music writers (The Young Borthers) so they could contact me about a song. The song they had written had been recorded by Kid Rock and Hank Williams, Jr. and was not being released by the record label just yet. Kid Rock and Hank, Jr's management teams were all for the song getting airplay now, but it just wasn't out there for stations to grab.
Luckily, Q97 is part of Clear Channel Media & Entertainment and we have a huge national data base of music. I was able to upload the song to our data base, it was accepted and is now available for airplay by request at our sister station, K93, and any country music station in the Clear Channel family. Rod Bubba is already spinning it there!
Now...I know it IS a country song...but it's a rockin' country song and it talks about a lot of the things we love about living in a small town. That's why I'm telling you rockers about it!
Many of you are big Kid Rock fans just like me...and what good country raised boy or girl doesn't love Bocephus? Let's show 'em some love!
Anyway, if you'd like to hear it on our sister station, K93, be sure to call Rod tomorrow or send him a message on the Power Country K93 Facebook page. It's called "Redneck Paradise!"
We're just keeping it in the family here at Clear Channel-Lake Cumberland!
